A Labour Party delegation comprising Deputy Leader Alex Agius Saliba, Minister Omar Farrugia and MP Anthony Agius Decelis visited GO’s main offices in Bulebel, Żejtun. According to the party, workers described positive effects of Budget measures, including the Super Bonus, tax reductions for parents and free therapies for children with disabilities.
Agius Saliba cited the 2026 EY Malta Attractiveness Survey, saying telecommunications infrastructure and digital connectivity were the factor rated most positively by foreign investors, at 81%. He said a Labour Government would continue supporting private companies such as GO investing in digital infrastructure, while stressing the importance of fair competition.
Farrugia said further tax reductions for working parents would take effect next year. He welcomed initiatives including flexible hours, working from home and special leave following pregnancy loss. He also reiterated the Government’s target of a 25% improvement in citizens’ wellbeing by the end of the legislature.
Agius Decelis discussed the reduction in the tax rate for small businesses from 35% to 25%, saying it would leave them more money to reinvest. The Labour Party said: “The Labour Party believes that a strong economy is built on investment, innovation and competitiveness, but always with the Maltese and Gozitans at its centre.”
