A large-scale educational board game aimed at teaching children and young people about financial management has been launched at Tignè Point. The “Life-Sized Board Game”, implemented by Junior Achievement Young Enterprise (JA Malta), will be accessible to the public in the square until February 2027.

The project is funded through the Voluntary Organisations Projects Scheme (VOPS) of the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector (MCVS). Inspired by Snakes and Ladders, it targets children aged seven to 16. According to the Ministry for Inclusion and Volunteering, the game aims to teach saving, budgeting, investment and responsible spending through practical participation.

Young volunteers are involved in designing, testing and running the game. The project also includes training for volunteers to lead it in schools and community centres. JA Malta plans to place the game permanently in an accessible community space after the project period ends.

JA Malta Foundation Chief Executive Matthew Caruana said: “This is a project that puts young people at the centre, with the aim of involving them through play in learning different concepts related to financial capability, while creating a space where families can learn and grow together.”
