The Climate Action Authority (CAA), within the Ministry for Energy, the Environment and the Regeneration of the Grand Harbour, has launched EcoTrack. According to the ministry, the platform brings together electricity and water consumption data and information on the Government’s vehicle fleet in a single system.

A number of public entities have tested the platform, with results presented at the Permanent Secretary Forum, led by Principal Permanent Secretary Tony Sultana and attended by Minister Miriam Dalli. The ministry said the full public-sector roll-out would begin this year. EcoTrack was developed under the Government’s “Leading by Example” initiative, supporting the National Energy and Climate Plan.

“Through EcoTrack, we are putting data at the centre of how Government manages its energy and resource consumption,” Dalli said. The ministry said the platform includes an Energy Efficiency guide structured around the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle, to help entities identify and address their main sources of energy consumption.

According to the ministry, once baseline data is established, entities will monitor consumption over time, compare it with similar buildings and prioritise measures offering the greatest financial and environmental return. CAA expects EcoTrack to support entities pursuing energy or environmental certification.
